Nowruz meaning “the new day” (formed of nou (new) and ruz (day) in Persian) is considered as the new year by Turks in Middle Asia, Turkey and Persians. Nowruz happens on March 22nd in Gregorian calendar and March 9th in Julian calendar in which night and day are equal. Beside symbolizing nature coming out of winter and abundance, it is also considered as mobility, start and milestone in communities’ lives.
